Colleen + Alex : Portofino Hotel
I am so excited to share these gorgeous images from Colleen & Alex's wedding day! Colleen and I go way back to middle school, where we shared many classes together and often confided in one another about any problems we were having. We became closer in high school where we continued to study hard but also had fun in choir and yearbook! We headed to sunny San Diego to attend college and we studied similar fields; cognitive science for her and psychology for myself. It was at university where this love story began and I was able to witness their relationship blossom. I am so happy for Colleen & Alex and honored to help her plan, coordinate, and be a bridesmaid for her wedding day!
It’s hard to believe from looking at photos, but when we woke up early that morning for hair and make-up, it was pouring rain outside! We were checking the weather forecast every day leading up to that special day to see if the rain would go away, it was looking gloomy. Thankfully the rain let up in the early afternoon! We were able to go outside to take some more pretty photos and enjoy a sweet and intimate wedding ceremony.
Colleen was absolutely gorgeous in her lace A-line wedding dress! For the bridesmaids dresses and florals, we had varying shades of blush pink, mauve, and burgundy which matched well with the gentlemen’s navy blue suits. The Portofino Hotel Lobby was beautifully decorated and had high ceilings with large windows that let in a lot of natural light, it was the perfect setting for the First Look.
After many years of dating and pursuing their careers in Socal, it’s official! Congratulations Alex & Colleen!! The Portofino Hotel had such a lovely space for guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the marina. I especially enjoyed the little touches that Alex and Colleen added to their decor. Each table was adorned with luscious bouquet of flowers, a gold table number, and a photo frame pictures from their childhood. The welcome table showcased a travel theme with a suitcase full of luggage tag favors for the guests. The welcome sign and seating chart sign were designed by our friend Emily.
The rest of the evening was a blast! Colleen & Alex engaged their guests in a game of Table Races where they ran around the room to take a photo with each table within the time frame of one song. Yes indeed! They did snap a photo with all 23 tables by the time the song ended! It was a lot of fun to cheer them on! Here’s our picture with the happy newlyweds!
Since Colleen & Alex met through an a capella group at university, it was so fitting to have their good friends sing a song while they danced the First Dance together. Afterward, Alex & Colleen also surprised and delighted us all with a song of their own. It was a very sweet moment and so super cute! Congratulations again to the new Mr. & Mrs.!
